Multi level marketing or MLM as it is popularly called is one of the billion dollar industry which has been successful both online and offline. Some of the most successful MLM campaigns offline are Amway and Tupperware.  Online too, MLM has been extremely popular and some of them boast of million dollars in turnover.

So, how do you get started and make money from it?

Ideally, get into an industry in which you are interested. For example, for a stay at home mum, cosmetics or health industry would be best. This is because she will naturally be interested in these niches and will be able to promote it better.  When you are interested in a niche, you’ll probably be able to strike at the emotional urges that motivate to buy that particular product.

How good are you at selling?

Most MLM companies talk about “hands free” income and “no selling experience needed”. Agreed, that you don’t need prior experience to join an MLM program, but the bottom line to be successful is that you should be able to sell. Only when you sell better or when you are able to convince people join the program under you, you will earn better commissions.

Next, you should know how you are going to sell. Would you be cold calling unknown people or sending them emails? Or, would you be promoting to the people you know? To improve your chances of selling, you should ask for referrals.

Before you select an MLM company, take a look at the promotional methods the company is using. Do you feel comfortable with their marketing style? Do you feel confident about the product you are selling? If you are not confident, naturally, you will not be able to convince others.

MLM can be a great source of income, but be prepared to put in efforts. After all, no pains, no gains!
