What is the essence of a good logo design? To put it in just one sentence, it should be a design that people will remember for years to come. With that said, let’s take a look at the tips to create a good logo design:
Keep it Simple: The primary goal of the logo design is that it should be simple enough for the customers to understand. Even a small child should be able to understand the logo. Take for example, the logo of world famous McDonalds or Coca Cola or the classic logo design of Nike- you remember the logo even as you are reading this, right?
Ageless: You want your brand to be remembered for years to come. That’s why your logo should not be time bound. It should be ageless. So, instead of following the trend, create a logo that will be relevant even 20 to 50 years hence.
Apt: Your logo should carry the message of your business. The colors, fonts and the image should cut with the targeted audience. Now, if you are dealing in kids items the colors and fonts should clearly convey who the store is for! That doesn’t mean that if you are selling clothes your logo design should be a shirt. We all remember “Apple”, simply because it is apt!
Easy to Remember: Logo design should not so much be a creative extravaganza. You want people to remember your logo, therefore it should be easy to remember. Again, take example of some of the big brands- Apple, Coca Cola, Mc Donalds –This logos are simple and easy to remember!
Innovative: Your design should be innovative to be remembered. If your design is just too similar to the existing ones, your logo and eventually your brand would be lost in a hay stack! Therefore, try to be innovative in your designing. Think about where you’ll be placing your logo. If you are going to place it on more than one medium say, in press, online etc, then use vector art for best effects.
All in all, your logo design should be able to leave a mark on the viewers.
